I know this is "wind_talk"...........but..........Kirk started it by
talking about wind, over frozen water, at 7000 feet.....

Monday was 205cm on ice hard pack with all powder blown off on upper
runs at Alpine but I heard North Star was good while Mt Rose was too
windy and SugarBowl was closed due to wind. I think I'd like some 170cm
parabolics!

a bumper sticker said it best "short skis....still suck". You don't need
to go short to get rad ice carving.
I am on 200 cm Vollkl G40 w/sharp edges. These rockets have lots of shape,
but they ain't no parabolics. They
slice and dice the ice and hold better then my slalom race skis did (new
tuned ones). in curd, they are as
good as a snow board. In powder, they are erotic/yummie/fun/shits and
giggles. In crust, they float. In the trees,
they dance. On the packed, they smoke. They float in the air like crazy,
and due to wide platform, I land
more air then in the past. Get some wide, shaped long skis. The length
comes in handy when you start to
mach in powder/crud...........Ride em' hard and fast. You will smile.

Did you not mean in your report FLATstar (vs. northstar)? it was good
because it's down lower and it warms up sooner....did
I mention that it's flat? one flat funnel in the front, 3 blue runs in the
back........good place to learn how to snowboard, for
one day.......just my opinion......

some folks are in treetops, just looking for their kites"
