Thanks to those who responded to my emergency call last week. We
actually got quite a few faxes in to BCDC in time and I think they knew
enough about the importance of the issue for us. Unfortunately, BCDC's
position is that they would be overstretching their powers by making
Foster City buy back the Cal Trans land as a prerequisite to their road
improvements along E. Third. It would have been nice to have the
leverage of BCDC, but it looks like we're just not going to have it,
since the access we have now was all that was ever promised to us years
ago. That means we have to go to Foster City and ask nicely. If there
are any Foster City residents who haven't contacted me already, please
do so.

The biggest issue with Foster City is money and Cal Trans willingness to
let go of the property. One of the ideas for 3rd is to charge a
launching fee so we can help finance buying the land and putting a lot
on it. Since many of you are 3rd ave users, I'd appreciate any feedback
about the suggestion. Thanks.
