I've just started to add some circuit training to my routine - weightlifting w/
no rest, just keep moving through different exercises. I think it'll prove to
work well since you have to keep up your endurance while meeting some strenuous
muscular demands (ie: just like most physical sports such as windsurfing), plus
when your hurried for time there's no better workout available. What I would
definitely pay very special attention to is your flexibility (since most
injuries are a direct result of a lack of this) and from there treat both your
aerobic endurance and overall strength to be of equal importance and maybe put
some special emphasis on leg strength, abs/lower back and forearms. Swimming is
a great activity and real handy if/when you break down far from shore or are
without your gear in surf. Also, keep it as varied as possible. Doing the same
thing in the gym all the time will bore the crap out of you and you'll
eventually stop doing it.
