Yeah the circle is often windier than either Berkeley or Isabel. However, the
tip of the day is if you're coming from the south on Hwy-80, ESPECIALLY during
rush hour, get off at Powell in Emeryville and go to the end of the road. The
marina park is the place to launch. Rig on the nice grass, walk down the ramp
swim the shadow which is usually no more than 100ft and then go. If you're
powered and you can go upwind, then one reach and you're through the first break
in the Berkeley pier and whamo! The wind and waves turn on! (or don't and you
turn around).

On most days given the 5mph ave. speed of the I80 traffic, I can get to the
circle much faster on my board than in my car. If you live north of Albany then
this might be a better launch than Berk or Eville.

So I'll stick with Eville which is a much better launch than the ever popular
H's Lordships at Berkeley. However, it's nice to know that if I break down and
need to hitch back to my car, i can get in there and get my stuff back.

[One caveat about Eville is that the parking lots closer to the launch do fill
up do to the fact that it is a park and folks to he BBQ picnic thing (mainly
sunny sundays in July) , but I've always found a slot a short walk from the
grass -still less walking than 3rd Ave.]
