Note: it is estimated that there are only about 100 Great Whites that patrol
the entire coast of California and they tend to patrol a lot of it (have a
large range) which stretches up to Oregon, with some favorite seal stops
around Ana Nuevo, the Farralons and Bodega and I think breed off Tomales and
the Farralons. Supposedly they also dig the islands off the Santa Barbara
channel a bit. Most white sharks stay in the deeper waters by the
Continental Shelf. While I certainly don't think it's outside the realm of
possibility that a Great White might venture down inside the bay some (every
year Gray Whales make the mistake that SF Bay is the way to Alaska), I think
routinely hangin at the third ave channel marker "seal mecca" that it is,
might be pushing it.
Either you're joking or you should stop shrooming before you sail. When
someone says they see great whites at third, they're talking about the caps.
