I agree with you on sailing there with a buddy and the fast hydrofoil
ferries... DP is very remote, and out in the channel you are a long way
from land - plus I wouldn't go in a flood...

But... I think DP is definitely worth travelling to if the conditions are
right for big swells -i.e. - big wind and an ebb. IMHO on windy/ ebb days DP
swells are bigger, cleaner, longer, and oriented better for jumping than the
best days at 3rd Ave. Just ask Mike Godsey sometime about how good DP can
get.

I'd leave 5.5/ 6.0 Berkeley in a heartbeat for 4.5 Davis Point...

Brad

My $0.02 is that it is an interesting place with two concerns. First is
sail with buddy, for sure, as you could be blown all the way across the
Carquinez Strait IMHO. Also, from personal experience, the fancy new cat
ferry from Vallejo to SF is very fast and surprisingly quiet coming at you
from downwind, so watch out even more than usual (seems vacant space, until
almost too late). I would only travel there for diversity and/or because
no wind closer (NLWTFW!).
