Yes, I have been hit and have seen others hit many times. Sometimes I even
survive but it is sure a "big gust".
The Bruce Willis movie that was a sequel, I forget the name, but it ends with
the bad guys taking off in a plane thru a cloud of fire and smoke.... shows the
tip vortecies very well....

PS.... lots of fun 7.5/9'6" 5-7PM sailing at Coyote the past few days. Nice to
excape the heat and sail until it cools at my house!

A friend of mine flies 747's, and claims that vortex generated by each
wing can knock down wind surfers. It is a little like bowling, only a
lot more fun.
