Here's a 'In a Netshell' description of the Coyote-Buildings situation right
now and what you can do to help:

SAVE COYOTE POINT !
-------------------
MASSIVE OFFICE BUILDINGS PLANNED UPWIND OF COYOTE POINT WILL REDUCE THE WIND
AND CAUSE SEVERE TURBULENCE ACROSS THE ENTIRE ‘COVE’ (INSIDE SAILING AREA)
AT COYOTE. IT WOULD BE MUCH HARDER AND IT COULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO WINDSURF AT
COYOTE POINT.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
THIRD AVENUE, CRISSY FIELD, AND ALL OTHER BAY AREA WINDSURF SITES WILL
BECOME MUCH MORE CROWDED IF COYOTE POINT IS DESTROYED. We cannot lose
Coyote, where the largest # of windsurfers go.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
WHAT YOU CAN DO: ((( #1 )))
---------------------------
JOIN THE GROUPS THAT ARE FIGHTING TO REDUCE THE OFFICE PROJECT AND THE WIND
SHADOW AND TURBULENCE IT WILL CAUSE:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
* SAVE THE BAY *
----------------
If you want to help SAVE THE BAY protect Coyote, Join Immediately (Today!):
Call (510) 452-9261 - Monday through Friday - (easiest way), or, send a $25
check to: Save The Bay, Attention: Membership Coordinator, 1736 Franklin
Street, Fourth Floor, Oakland, CA, 94612, include with your check: your full
name, mailing address, and e-mail address. Tell them you are a windsurfer
who wants to protect Coyote Point. Also, Save The Bay is currently asking
its members to help us windsurfers protect Coyote Point's wind from the
office buildings. They are helping us quite a bit. Web Site:
http://www.savesfbay.org/
*** Save The Bay is also leading the fight to stop the new runways at San
Francisco International Airport (A TOTALLY SEPARATE ISSUE NOT RELATED TO THE
OFFICE BUILDING DEVELOPMENT.) The runways, would completely cut off Coyote
Point from the Bay. BOTH of the Airport’s current proposals would extend a
runway (plus landing light piers / "birdcages") all of the way past Coyote
Point, the museum, and the boat harbor. SFO’s plans CAN be defeated.

address. Web Site: http://www.sfba.org/

WHAT YOU CAN DO: ((( #2 )))
ATTEND THE PLANNING COMMISSION’S MEETING: MON JUNE 14, AT 7 PM
WHY?: This could be our last chance to show support for Coyote and have our
say. The Commission has the power to approve (or not approve) the office
development project AT THIS MEETING. The Commission previously approved the
Environmental Impact Report, but the approval of the project itself is a
seperate matter. A number of commissioners have expressed concerns about the
windsurfing impacts as well as the traffic impacts from the project. The
commission has asked the developer to explore alternatives that reduce the
impacts to windsurfing, but it appears that the re-submitted plans will not
address the concerns. Still, the project could be approved on June 14th.
Let’s show up and show support for Coyote and encourage the commissioners to
REDUCE THE SIZE OF THE PROJECT! Note: THIS IS
*NOT* A FORUM TO DISCUSS THE AIRPORT RUNWAYS.
WHERE?: Burlingame City Hall, 501 Primrose Road, Burlingame, CA.
GET MORE INFO ON-LINE BEFORE YOU GO. The internet site
(http://www.sfba.org/) has a link to the latest news, the detail of the
proceedings so far, and the issues in depth.
