The forecast convinced me to make the drive - it sure
was a beautiful day for a drive. When I got down to Waddell
at 10am, it was not blowing very hard. So I decided to go for
a bike ride. Had great fun in the park across the street - I
think it's called big basin state park. Beautiful trail by the
river and almost no people that time of the day.

When I got back to the car, the wind had picked up. Off
to Dport. As I arrived, two guys were going out on 4.7: it
did not look that windy. They sure were powered though
and waves were looking pretty sweet.

I hit the water at 12:30 on 4.8/8'8" (207#). Totally powered
the whole time. On the first reach of the year I hit a hudge
mound of moving water and launch a big ass jump - great
way to start the year. The waves kept getting better
until about 2pm. At that time the lower reef shut down the the
upper reef became the place to be. I took a well needed break
and went back out. By 3 my arms were jello.

Awesome first day. I am still a bit sore.
