I was not a regular but I sailed Foster city enough to know the
difference. What really happened at Foster City was a tremendous wind
shadow in the middle

Re. efforts to respond to development upwind of Cotyote Point:

Karina from SFBA and Peter of Peter's Cafe have suggested that the
experience
at Foster City Lagoon may be informative relative to the planned
development
upwind of Coyote Point. The general story seems to be that Foster City
was a
great sailing spot with longboard racing and even near shortboard type
conditions on occasion until office buildings blocking the wind went up.
After
buildings went up, the area declined due to turbulent wind and is now
used
exclusively by beginners. It would be great if anyone can turn up a
windsurfer
who was a regular Foster City sailor before the buildings went up and who
is
willing to come to the public meeting 2/22 to talk about the impacts of
turbulence created by the building(s). Please let me know of any
candidates
and please forward this to anyone who may be able to help on this point.
