               Marine weather forecast improvements?

If you go along shore or offshore in any kind of boat,
power or sail, where do you find the marine
weather conditions and forecasts you need?

Would you like to see more weather information, more
detailed, more frequent, different information, etc.?

I am trying to find out where boaters get their weather now, and
how they would like it improved. And what sources they want it from.

At the moment I am primarily concerned with coastal forecasts,
out at most a few hundred miles, maybe to Bermuda, but not transocean.

Any and all ideas will be considered for modernized marine
weather products. Web weather charts, for example, with a resolution
of say 5 miles - would you like those? For every three hours?

There are strong indications that few of the general public obtain
forecasts directly from the National Weather Service. Almost everyone
seems to be using various commercial forecasts (including web services),
except for warnings.

One exception appears to be use of NOAA weather radio among mariners.
There is some indication the quality of marine forecasts on NOAA
weather radio is declining. True? Or is it just stuck where it always
has been?

What do you want from marine weather sources?
Wind?
Waves? (Do you want direction or period as well as height?)
sea surface temperature?
Precip?
Clouds?
MSL pressure or front charts?
air temperature?
Fog?
Thunderstorm indications?

How far out do you want forecasts? 12 hours? 2 days? 5 days more?

Thanks for your help
