I had the board strapped down to my roof rack with a 1/4" cable running
around the roof rack tower twice and then through all of the footstraps
with a master lock securing the connection of the cable ends. The majority
of the cable was concealed by my board bag; the locking ends of the cable
were outside the bag where the zippers met. The boom was not locked down
although it was bungee corded over the board. The thief did not cut either
the bungee or the straps. They did not leave the cable so I assume that
they cut it.

I had previously used a finbox lock. I just checked out some of the new
finbox and mast track locks at one of the shops. There are some pretty
secure looking devices for the tracks but still, a cable runs through them
and wire cutters will easily cut through the cable. The most secure system
I have seen for boards is a Gorge rack with a steel closing mechanism
constructed to close and lock the usually open side. It requires some
soldering and drilling--unless anyone has seen one that is sold equipped
this way.
