It's a wave sailing site, so adherence to wave sailing etiquette
applies, even to slalom sailors when sailing in and out (ie don't sail
out shouting "starboard" at the wave sailors). A lot of slalom sailors
sail there, but there's a narrow launch between rocks, through waves,
so you have to pay attention and should be able to handle sailing
through and over white water. The water is also _very_ cold, colder
than the north Santa Cruz coast, so winter wetsuits are mandatory.
Heads up for the kelp beds that line the coast about 3/4 mile out. They
are thick, with just a few openings to sail out beyond. Although not as
common as around the N. Santa Cruz coast, this is still White shark
territory.

This time of year, the swell is usually pretty small, so waves aren't
that big. Check the bouy reports in the area (Pietras Blancas).
