I believe it does have showers. It is not protected. It has a few
scraggly trees but the only real protection is to set up your tent
downwind of your vehicle (that's what we did, but the ranger didn't
like it). I haven't camped on the downwind shore, maybe it's even
worse there.
It does have firepits.. we were able to light a fire and BBQ some
steaks despite 25+ winds. Quite an experience.
