Since I am one of those "the glass is half full" people, I thought
it would be good to provide a positive prespective to El Nino.

To begin with, I got 21 days of powder skiing this year - we are talking
full on, knee to chest deep, all steep terrain open and a few days
where the snow was 'white smoke' - just like the Utah and Montana
fluff. That was winter. I hear that there is still powder up there to
be had.

While the normal high pressure has not set up, we have had very
good sailing. February/April we had some crazy 3rd ave days. May
has been very good so far.

I was in Paris last week, so I missed the no wind/rain week and came
back to my mistress - Gail (The only one that my wife will approve ;-)

Friday, 5/15, Berkely
5.2/8'8" Enduro (207#), fully powered for 3 hours, nice swells. The
wind did not die down, I got tired - jet lag sets in.

Saturday, 5/16, Berkely
5.7/8'8" Enduro, nicely powered the entire time. Body sore from
the day before - 4 hours of sleep in last 3 days has not helped.

Sunday, 5/17, Waddell
5.2/8'8" Enduro, small waves, solid wind, large crowd - but hey,
it's a big beach and there is room for all, especially if you don't
mind going up of down wind. Great jumps due to good wind by
the shore. Felt so good to be back on the Ocean.

Monday, 5/18, Stinson Beach
5.7/8'8" Enduro, light on the inside, fully wound on the outside.
Great jumping swells on the outside, fun shoulder size waves.
The light wind by shore enabled to focus on riding my board vs.
using my sail for power. A good skill to master.

Have only sailed here one other time. When the wind has
enough of a westerly component, this spot is a true gem.
Great place for the family to hang out of the wind, nice waves,
amazing views on the way back in - Bolinas, Mt. Tam, the headlands,
SF and half moon bay.

Tue, 5/19, Berkely
5.7/8'8", very powered - could have been on 5.2. solid
2 hour session with no shutdown at the end - very unlike Berkely.
