- One thing that went in my pack last year was
a pair of swim paddles. They're roughly 6"x10"
pieces of bright orange plastic with rubber
bands to strap onto your hands. It makes
swimming in alot easier, (tested this at
Pt. Isabell with a 1/2 swim last year.)
Someone on shore had called the coast
guard, but I managed to swim to safety
before they ever showed up.
- Another item that might go in my safety pack
is a roughly 6"x30ft roll of bright orange
plastic. I saw it in a magazine ( Outdoor?),
seemed like a handy reusable replacement for
a dye marker.

strobe for about $30. They're hard to find
