Steve was picked up by a CG Helicopter at 330 degrees from 3rd Ave point at
approximately 9:00pm (Mast broke in two places). Two windsurfing rescuers,
Jerome and Jay, had reached Steve. Jerome, just prior to the helicopter
arrival, was attempting to tow Steve with marginal success. Jay
momentarily stole the spotlight (literally) with his arrival on the scene,
as he came planing out of the dark into the searchlights over the scene.
At this point, Steve was airlifted, Jerome returned, and Jay began to tow
Steve's board and rig pieces. Minutes later, a CG boat intercepted Jay and
retrieved Steve's equipment. Jay, man of many lofty titles including "slog
king", hadn't had enough and wanted to test the low tide water levels just
south of Coyote Point Marina ;-). Jay was last one in, at roughly 10:00pm.
The party broke up shortly thereafter.

BTW, I was nicely OP'ed from 5 - 6pm, then nicely powered till 7 pm on my
5.0 Zeta (165lbs) and 8'8" ASD RKT. What a pleasant surprise!
