After using my new 8'8" Enduro for display purpose during
the last week, I was really looking forward to getting it
wet. The most important ingredient for this christening finally
fell into place this weekend - wind.
On Saturday Berkeley was blowing pretty good when
I drove by. The excitement and anticipation that I felt
before launching a brand new ASD board that was
made just for me was pretty tantalizing. For the first time
in my life, rigging did not involve a frenzy, but was
rather a calm and smooth affair - just like good foreplay
that you want to make last.......
For reference, I moved up to this board from an old
reliable Bic Tempo - easy, forgiving, fun, long lasting.
I was ready to have to take some time to get dialed into
this new board.
After rigging my 5.7, I descended the rocks by the restaurant
more carefully then ever before in my life, and with a great
deal of pleasure penetrated they bay's wet surface. A short swim
to the wind line, a quick puff and I was up on the board. A
quick pump later I was rapidly ascending the stairway to heaven.
Can this be true? Am I really playing on this new stick? Is it
legal to be having so much fun? Do the other sailors mind if
I scream out loud?
Wow, at the end of a 2 hour session - long, sweet, tiring - I
felt an unexplainable urge to smoke a cigarette........
This board absolutely rips! it gets up on a plane with a few
swift pumps. It points upwind like a dream - better then
I ever hoped for - Tuba here we come.....................
It screams on downwind reaches, with
the nose scoop clearing any and all types of swells. It
turns on a dime, and can rip a long drawn out jibe. This board
jumps like a dream - so feathery light and easy to control
in the air. On the faces of swells - can't wait to test on waves -
this board is like powder skis in 3' of brand new Utah fluff. The
board also slogs well, and is uphaulable - it will work like a charm
at Crissy. I am just a little stoked!
To Bob Miller and the gang at ASD - you guys are awesome.
Thanks for making this amazing board for me.
