Hi Kids,
comming to you from the Kailua Public Library via telnet...

I've been on Oahu with the extended family for over a week now,
it was big wind and south swell when we got in on friday the 1st.
Went by Diamond Head to watch the action in puffy conditions. Robbie was
out, and standing out like a beacon. The guy gets so much power where we
mortals can't find it.

rented a 6.5 Noa and a 9'3 Stinger at Kailua for the weekend, cuz Matson
guys only work 7-noon, and we was to late to pick up my box of toys.
Overall, the wind has been light "Trades 10-20", but people have been
sailking DHead every day. I've done it twice on my 8'8 ASD and the 5.3 Nalu.
It's total light wind wave sailing. You slog out, maybe catch a puff and
a jump if you're lucky, do a noplane jibe (or tack) outside, pump onto a
wave. and dodge all the Italianos comming out. It really is a culturally
diverse beach with all flavors of Euros, Brazilians, white and brown
people from both here and californy, many japanese and a smooth gradation
of asian/hawaiian peoples. And the bikinis are outstanding!

surf has come up on the east side last few days as Guillermo slides by.
Yesterday I surfed at Flat Island, right here in Kialua all day on the
longboard. shifty, mushy walls and a big crowd, but everybody gets some.
air, ocean, and rain are all about 80 degrees all the time. I'm going to
Dhead again today, cuz the wind is spozed to totally poop out tommorrow.

I'll be back home this weekend.
Love,
kasplash
