I did the same thing last year. My doctor over the phone said if I wasn't
willing to cast it, I should stay off it.
I tried a number of things including using donut shaped pads, beefing up the
padding in booties, etc.
None worked well, the only thing that seemed to work was not sailing. I
sailed less than normal, and evenutally it went away, but I can sympathize
with you - it is a very frustrating injury.
