Port of Redwood City Celebrates 60th Anniversary September 20-21 with a
Waterfront Festival in Conjunction with Downtown Climate Best Fest

        The Port of Redwood City celebrates its 60th anniversary as a formal part
of the city with a two-day Waterfront Festival September 20-21. FDR's
historic U.S.S. Potomac, his Presidential Floating White House, will make
its first sojourn to a visiting port as part of the celebration and provide
dockside tours.
        The Waterfront Festival is being held in conjunction with the Climate Best
Fest, scheduled for downtown at Main and Broadway the same weekend. Both
the Festival and Fest will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and free to the public.
        Highlights at the first-ever Waterfront Festival at the Port of Redwood
City Marina include:
· Public Dockside Tours Aboard the U.S.S, Potomac, FDR's Floating White
House. Prices: $3 for adults, $2 for seniors and $1 for children.
· Bay Rides Aboard the 440-passenger Harbor Princess, Red & White Fleet,
Every 45 Minutes. Prices: $3 adults, children under 4 free.
· Speed Boat Race Demonstrations
· Public Canoe Rides
· Public Sailboat Rides
· Public Tours on Sea Scout Boats
· Learn about Salt Harvesting and Port Businesses at Exhibits "Under the
Tent" at Wharf 5
· Live Big Band Music both Saturday & Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. Appearing
Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Waterfront Festival outdoor stage, from 1 to 3
p.m. will be the16-member Bay City Big Band, featuring band leader Max
Bourjon. The 18-member Foster City All Stars Swing Band will perform
Sunday, Sept. 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. on the same stage. Also appearing
Saturday will be the Studio "S" Dancers, a group that sets the crowd afire
with its rendition of the 1940s hit "Bugle Call Rag." Appearing Sunday
after the Foster City All Stars will be the McKinley Intermediate School
Ballet Folklorico, a student Latin dance program.
· Windsurfing Simulator: Learn How to Windsurf Without Getting Wet!
· Taste the Specialties from La Rotunda Sul Mare from Outside Booths

The Climate Best Fest, located less than 2 miles from the Waterfront
Festival, will feature about 100 booths and live entertainment both days.
