ok, assuming you're south of The City:
through SF, cross GGBridge, continue north past the
"Tamalpias Drive/Paradise Drive" exit,
then right lane, exit toward "Richmond Bridge"
you'll pass the Ferry Terminal and a 30' tall steel statue of Sir Francis
Drake, then a curve around some bushes, and there will be gravel parking
right alongside the road. almost always some surfmobiles around, and
totally packed if it's windy.

the launch and ferry channel is always deep. the other side, where the
good wind is, is too shallow below about a 1.0 tide. current is not a
factor.
