It's 7-8 hours either way you slice it. Neither of the cutovers from 5 to
the coast are very efficient in the time sense. The one at Grant's pass
runs more SW than W, and the one at Roseburg puts you an hour north of Gold
Beach. 101 is prettier & easier, so long as you don't get trapped in the
caravan of Bad Sam motorhomes on the one lane section through the redwoods.
