windjunkies:

A few days ago someone asked about what is the difference between the
AVN and MRF models.

There is another model I find quite reliable, called the NGM (nested
grid model). The model output can be acquired (for SFO) from:

http://covis.atmos.uiuc.edu/covis/visualizer/cgi-bin/fcst_stn.pl?fcstngm=on&station=sfo

Also, there is a wind profiler running out of Bodega Bay. A wind
profiler makes fairly accurate observations of wind speed and direction
aloft. This is good for seeing the competing or complementary factors of
upper level winds and sea breeze (it's a really big image, though):

http://www-dd.fsl.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/test_send_gif.pl?Product=WINDS&Profiler=BBYCA&method=none

I'm trying to find some archives for the NGM model to correlate it to
the observations at Coyote from Call of the Wind (Jim). By the way, Jim,
the check's in the mail.

Mike
