Another stop over in Maui, The wind was northerly ~15-23 mph, making for
5.1 to 6.3 sailing in Kihei. The direction of the wind and the lack of
it on the north shore made for no wave sailing. Sailed 3 days in Kihei, the
really good wind was about 3 miles out from the Maui Sunset over to Maleea. Selfguided whale watching was the highlight of the sailing. The offshore flow made
me think of purchasing the VHF again. Last nite I went to Hookipa to check out the surf, it was going off at 7-8 feet, overmast high, but no wind. Rented
golf clubs and played every morning.At Pukalani you can play 9 holes before the
wind gets going.
