News item:

During the big Bay Area storm of December 12 at 5AM, the Kregor Peak
meteorological station (south of Mt. Diablo) recorded a 20 second gust of 134
miles an hour! This is the highest wind velocity ever clocked in the Bay Area.

Three hours later the instrument sheared off the tower and died!
