Yeah good point these strobe lights are what are used extensively by the
Navy for their survival gear. The key is not to skimp and get a quality
one! The one draw back is that these are real hard to see by day, but
during the day your chances of pickup are much greater in the bay
anyhow. On the ocean this is a bit more of a problem. In any case
these lights are an excellent option.

At the 3rd Ave cleanup several months ago, the cost gard rep.
that was there said personal strobes were quite good at being
seen day or night. Not like a cell phone, but more reliable
then a flare, in that they can be tested.
