I'm planning to sail Rio Vista this Sat. morning for the first time
and am hoping that someone can help me with the following:
- How do I get there from the City? Where am I going? How long of a
drive? Where do I park? Any shops nearby?
- What time does the wind pick up? Is there a Windtalker #? What
conditions in the City are indicative of early wind at Rio?
- Any novice sites for my girlfriend?
Try Sand Bar (sometimes called Sandy beach). Take 160 to Rio Vista,
go straight, (left into Rio Vista). There is funky bar (DAS CLIFF
HAUS?) on the left, just a little ways beyond that there is a sweeping
right curve, and the Sand Bar is at the left. It's kind of hard to
see, but may have signs it is under some park system or the other and
you pay to park. Weekends it fills up quick.
Talk to the people at Delta Windsurf..they always are helpful.
Also be aware of the tides, they make a huge difference in conditions,
and how close you return to your starting point. (especially if your
waterstart is like mine and not always the fastest).
Thank you in advance for your help,
Eric
