I think you got caught my high-pressure inland on Tuesday. When that
happens Candlestick is usually better than 3rd. Wednesday 3rd ripped
late. I rigged a 5.6 when I got there at 4:30, was way overpowerd by the
time I got on the water (140#, Tiga 260, Sailworks Race), so I rigged
down to a 5.1 which worked quite well on the inside ramps. Bigger folks
on 5.5's were rigging down.

Ken's mail about yesterday said it was good. From the following I'd
surmise that today will be good as well:

    coastal marine forecast...corrected
    national weather service san francisco
    330 am pdt fri jun 23 1995

synopsis...strong thermal troughing is occurring from imperial ca to
redding. a 1028 mb high is 750 nm w of point conception and a ridge
extends ne to vancouver island. high pressure offshore and low
pressure inland are creating near gale force winds 60 to 180 nm
offshore in the vicinity of cape mendocino.

Candlestick is almost never a good choice IMHO unless you want flat
water and gusts and rocks (I redecorated a fin there last year in chest
deep water). If there is high pressure inland however it can be the only
place on the peninsula that blows (except maybe Oyster Point). In those
weather conditions you can tell that The Stick is going to turn on by
checking the wind talker (415-GOP-RATS) and listen for a tempature drop
late in the afternoon.
