Subject: Coyote Monday

============ Mon 24 Apr 95 - Coyote - 5.2,4.7/257 (187 lb)

After a weekend of almost no wind, 18 knots was enough to call Michael
and I from the office. We went to Coyote due to the low tide. I was
figuring 6.2 on the way, but it seemed stronger when we got there,
so I went with 5.2/257, Michael did 4.8/??. It was a bit light right
at first (3:45), but filled in really strong about 4:15. We sailed
overpowered way outside. There was nice swell up to 4 feet and we
both were finding nice ramps. Turns out Michael could plane sooner on
his small glass board, but my Tiga 257 is way faster - it was nice to be
the fast one for a change!

About 5:00 we came in for a rest and decided to rig down a size.
Oops. The wind backed off and the sailing was quite marginal on 4.7.
We probably should have known better than to rig down so late on a
thermal wind. We came in around 6:00 and had a long slog back. Michael
at least slogged to the launch beach; I took the Walk of Shame.
