James,
Due to connectivity problems right now, I can't post to wind_talk. Maybe
you could post this for me.

I'm currently using a 9.0" slash n bash in my small wave bd (8'2" ASD assym).
It's very loose on the waves, and the upwind performance is better than the
previous fin (an 8 1/2" rainbow predator wave fin). I would definitely
recommend it for surf sailing. I don't make it out to the sf bay much, but
I would think there are fins better suited to bay conditions (fins that aren't
so loose, but have better speed and upwind performance).

I've only used this fin in nuking conditions (3.5 and 4.0), due to the boards
small size. I don't know how the fin would do in 4.5 or 5.0 weather, but I'd
guess that it would be too small.

Thanks Ben. This brings another interesting factor into the mix. Fin
size to sail size to sailor size. In a conversation with a saleman at
Windsurf Warehouse, he recommended a 9" swept fin (Dill Pivot) for my
5.0 and smaller on an 8'6" board. This sounded kind of small to me
(me, being 6'8", 225lbs). Can anyone else, who is in my size class
(kirk?), suggest a suitable B&J fin for 4.5-3.5 conditions, on an 8'6"
board?

~Jim
