I don't know how you could use a leash in windsurfing, as you are
switching your foot position back and forth with each point of sail.
In surfing, you attach the leash to your back foot, which is always
your back foot, so it doesn't get in the way. I guarantee you'll look
like a rodeo cow with it's feet tied after attempting a step gibe
with a leash :-).

Also, tethering yourself to the board would make shortboard tacks
impossible.
