The new nets at Third Avenue have been held up by permitting and
engineering issues. I was just talking with Chris Aliaga at the
golf course and it sounds like they are targeting for the end of
next week as a start date. They have started some of the welding
work already. Next week they expect to have the heavy equipment
available and they might be able to rearrange some of the poles
along the side of the golf course so that they sit closer to the pro
shop and leave more parking close to the main Third Avenue parking
area. Chris reiterated that people (kiters, most likely) are
welcome to park in the golf course parking lot to launch from the
west side of the golf course. The foundations for the poles need to
be very beefy and an inspector will have to be flown in to
inspection them since no one working at the City is qualified to do
such an inspection. Once works starts, things could be very messy
for a while with trucks, cranes and cement mixers operating in the
Third Avenue Parking lot and along the side of the range.
